Ethics

The ethics of diamonds concern their provenance and the social and environmental impact of the mining industry. Diamonds can be associated with conflict and exploitation, with some mined in war zones and used to finance violence. To address these issues, the Kimberley Certification Process was created to ensure diamonds are “conflict free.” Additionally, more and more consumers and businesses are demanding diamonds that are ethically sourced through sustainable and responsible mining practices.

The RJC (Responsible Jewellery Council) policy is a global initiative that promotes social and environmental responsibility in the jewellery industry. The RJC sets standards to ensure that members adhere to ethical practices, from sourcing of materials to manufacturing. Its principles include the protection of human rights, environmental sustainability and transparency in the supply chain. RJC member companies must demonstrate compliance through audits and certifications, ensuring that their operations are conducted in a responsible and sustainable manner.
